Nicki Plays rough: Pink Friday CoverArt

Long awaited "Pink Friday " comes out Nov 23.

Now, I’m not a music reviwer like my friend KKM; so ill leave that up to her. This weekend fans were given a  sample of  Nicki’s upcoming Album’s artwork. The armless Harajuku Barbie is propped on the mininalistic yet strong cover image, sporting one of her  tradmark facial expressions. I was expecting/picturing this cover to go in a totally different direction; Bighter/Bolder. I could wirte about her dress, shoes or hair but thats not really wat intereste me, The Photoshoping.

I always try to figure out what is done to an image and how the artist went about it. I took a closer look at the cover and a few things stood out, i was a little disappointed. Her legs have been isolated and liquified/stretched. this wouldn’t stand out as much if the material from her dress hadn’t  also been stretched. Her Chest has been also been liquified / burned   to exaggerate her breast, the ony problem is that they are not smooth and the burn tool could have been used less.

A good friend of mine sent me a link to this cute animation short on you tube. A shell named Marcel  is interview, marcel also gives you a tour of his house.

Pantone in your pocket

No, not the  Iphone App every Graphic art student should have, but something just as useful. One of my favorite blogs Gracious Good brought these  pretty neat cases for the Iphone4 to my attention.

The pocket project

I was recently browsing ArtHouseCoop and  came across the Empty Pockets Project.

The artist asks that you take a pledge and empty your pockets and send some interesting items their way. In the end , all items will be assembled into a large installation piece.
